High Risk Insurance

SR-22 Insurance is high risk insurance.  The Department of Licensing requires a driver to maintain SR-22 Insurance for three years upon license reinstatement.  SR-22 Insurance is required when an individual serves a license suspension as a penalty because of a criminal conviction.  DUI, Reckless Driving and many other driving related crimes will require a license suspension as a penalty.

A driver will be required to carry SR-22 Insurance if they serve a license suspension resulting from an administrative action.  If the individual loses their DOL administrative hearing a license suspension will be imposed.  Upon license reinstatement the driver must provide proof of SR-22 Insurance.  The driver can expect a hefty increase in their insurance premium.
